At-Home Teeth Whitening Process
- Initial Consultation with Your Dentist - Before using an at-home whitening kit, your dentist will examine your teeth to ensure that they are healthy and suitable for whitening. Your dentist will take impressions to create a custom-fit whitening tray that ensures even application of the whitening gel.
- Receiving Your Whitening Kit - Once the custom trays are ready, your dentist will provide you with a whitening kit that includes the trays and a professional-grade whitening gel (carbamide peroxide or hydrogen peroxide). The kit will also come with instructions for safe and effective use. You may receive additional tips for achieving the best results.
- Whitening Procedure at Home - Before applying the whitening gel, brush and floss your teeth to remove any plaque or debris. Apply a thin layer of whitening gel to the inside of the custom trays. Insert the trays over your teeth and wear them for the recommended amount of time The duration may vary depending on the strength of the gel and your dentist’s recommendation. After the allotted time, remove the trays, rinse your mouth, and clean the trays.
